As an expression of his North American Roots, the founder, Joey Ghazal, created a slice of culinary nostalgia for those longing for an honest dining experience devoid of any pretentiousness or gimmickry. Rich in detail and originality, The MAINE, was inspired by the summers he spent on the East Coast as a child and the boisterous American taverns from the turn of the century, which themselves are rooted in the old world traditions of French Brasseries and English Gastropubs. The aspirational lifestyle and design style of The MAINE is heavily influenced by the shores of the East Coast - Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. This timeless appeal and Kinfolk aesthetic is the essence of the brand.
Tucked away in a hotel garage at the edge of Dubai’s sprawling coastline, The MAINE Oyster Bar & Grill, blends a post-industrial brasserie aesthetic with a fish mongers warehouse. The room has a retro-vintage feel with a laid-back feel. A sleeper hit and still a fan favourite, The MAINE JBR has won multiple awards and accolades over the years including ‘Best Newcomer’ from What’s ON Magazine 2016, ‘Best Seafood’ from BBC Good Food and ‘Best Restaurant Bar’ from TimeOut.
Your typical neighbourhood eatery designed with the same retro-vintage feel that has come to define the brand. Founder, Joey Ghazal, describes the new branch as "A cousin of the original MAINE in JBR, rather than a twin or an exact copy". A low-key nod to the original MAINE in JBR, this corner tavern features the same signature central bar, exhibition kitchen, raw bar, crystal chandeliers, comfortable booth seating and poolside terrace with a play area for young children.
Breathing fresh life into the familiar brasserie genre, The MAINE Land Brasserie, grafts the present onto the past, with a blend of period fidelity and contemporary gloss, capturing the clubby spirit of a handsomely timeworn brasserie this MAINE resembles an old world steakhouse with a strong undertow of sensuality. Designed with a jaw dropping neospeakeasy aesthetic, every accidentally-on-purpose detail, from the soaring double-height ceilings, well-worn floor tiles, bentwood rattan chairs, cathedralesque windows, crystal chandeliers and a charcoal grill that dominates the room,
The first international outpost is the revival of this historical townhouse in the heart of Mayfair – blending old world elegance, New England extravagance and a touch of subterranean decadence, The MAINE London is split across three levels with five distinct rooms.

LOBSTER TRAPPING IN MAINE
Our story all started with our Founder’s childhood memories.
We take Provenance very seriously and The Maine Group Founder, Joey Ghazal, spent the day learning the ropes directly from the Lobster Trappers and Fishermen of Cape Elizabeth, MAINE.
You will never truly appreciate the effort and artistry that goes into trapping lobsters until you actually try it yourself!
Montreal gastropreneur, Joey Ghazal, has developed dozens of restaurant and bar concepts across two continents. Joey founded The MAINE as an homage to the summers he spent vacationing in Maine as a child and his love for the immortal charm of the state whose slogan justly proclaims
“The way life should be”
Having started his career from humble beginnings, waiting tables in Soho in the early 2000s, to here, some 20 years later returning to London to debut The MAINE in this iconic property. His multidisciplinary and collaborative approach has helped him create timeless and immersive experiences that always resonate with a sense of event and celebration.
